Did you know?
Curious Iguana owners Marlene and Tom England are no strangers to downtown Frederick’s business community—they also own Dancing Bear Toys and Gifts, which opened in 2000 and thrives at 15 East Patrick Street.
In addition to a bookstore and community gathering space, the Iguana is a benefit corporation. Each month, we donate a portion of the store’s sales to different nonprofits that support literacy in our local community.
We also have a big heart for the Frederick community, offering as much support as we can to local schools, non-profits, and other organizations. That’s why the change jar on our counter doesn’t fund pizza deliveries—it’s for COIPP, a wonderful non-profit that provides much-needed resources for children of incarcerated parents in our community. If you’re interested in school or nonprofit partnership opportunities, email info@curiousiguana.com.
If you don’t see the book you’re looking for on our shelves, we’ll special order it for you, typically ready for pick up within two to five business days. Ask our booksellers or email info@curiousiguana.com to check title availability and delivery time.
We’ll stock copies of your next read at 20% off for your members. It’s our way of saying “thanks” for shopping local.
We can provide and sell books at off-site author events and other programs. This service is free, but dates must be booked at least one month in advance. Email your event date, location, expected attendance, and title(s) requested.
Our charitable contributions are mostly reserved for nonprofits and organizations who support literacy in our local community. Email your request to info@curiousiguana.com at least one month in advance. Please, no phone or walk-in solicitations.
